A strong explosion of Stromboli in the Aeolian Islands was felt by the islanders and tourists who are on vacation on the island.
The resumption of Strombolian activity is also reported by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology of Catania which in a note reports “a sequence of explosions of greater intensity than usual from various vents in the central-southern area of the crater terrace”.

The explosion occurred shortly before 5pm on the Stromboli volcano with spillage of material. Several fires broke out both in Stromboli and in the hamlet of Ginostra. So much fear among the inhabitants. “Fortunately nothing has happened, but we are still waiting for the safety of the Ginostra ridge and the safety of the village – Gianluca Giuffrè, who lives in Ginostra, tells Adnkronos – despite the works have already been contracted out to the company. Anything can happen from one moment to the next, so I ask that the safety works of the ridge be started as soon as possible. You don’t mess with people’s lives and I turn to the authorities.”
“The activity – specifies the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology – produced a significant emission of coarse pyroclastic material that abundantly covered the crater terrace and also reached Pizzo. The ash cloud produced headed towards the southern quadrants”.
Climbing on the crater is currently authorized up to a height of 400 meters. The last significant eruption was in 2019, that imposed closures on trekking routes
In Stromboli for a few days there has been also a troupe that is shooting the television series on Civil Protection with the presence of Ambra Angiolini.
